I remember starting to leave multiple times getting increasingly frustrated at it not ending. My home viewing experience is a completely different story however. After seeing them, I can only ever watch the extended cuts now and in doing so don't look at the films as a trilogy anymore but as a single 9 hour experience. The blu rays help in this respect as each film is split over two discs. This means it's easier to watch them like a season of tv over the course of a week.
