Topic	Should I play KOTOR before I play KOTOR II?

Been playing Galaxy of Heroes mobile game alot and really like Darth Nihilus...probably will get The Sith Lords on Steam/Humble, but should I play the 1st KOTOR beforehand in order to follow the story better?
