Thirty men and one woman have been charged with sexually exploiting five schoolgirls over a seven year period.

Police have revealed today the staggering number of suspects will appear in court next month.

The 30 men and one woman, who are mostly from Huddersfield, Yorkshire, are accused of rape, trafficking and sexual exploitation.

Police said the offences relate to the treatment of five children between the years of 2005 and 2012.

The alleged victims, who are now adults, were between the ages of 12 and 18 at the time of the abuse and lived in the Huddersfield area.

The 30 men and one woman will appear at Kirklees Magistrates Court on 5 and 6 September 2018.

Twelve men, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have also been charged with numerous offences in connection with the same investigation into non-recent child sexual exploitation.
