It's because in high school and college you've got a ton of educators brainwashing them with factually wrong information about seizing the means of production, nationalizing everything, penalizing private property, etc. They don't know better because most of them have never even held a real job. That's so laughably false it almost hurts. No one is brainwashing anyone, people who have struggled due to conventional Reganomic style economy want a change from convention. Stagnant wages and losses of jobs have created a culture where people are desperate for something, or someone, to change the system and don't give a damn if that means changing their prior held assumptions.
