No, I would consider someone stupid for buying a car new..

Exactly why buy new and pay out the butt for it when you could get used and save a bunch. My last car I got was a used car, it was a 2013 and I got it in Dec of 2013. Guy had it like 8 months I think at most and around 11k miles. But got it for 7-8k less than new (before taxes fees etc) So I'd say that's a win. And if saving money on a still same year car is "poor" rather than just smart meh that's on you.

Smart deal. I got my 2002 IS200 for 300 and the promotional information put the car's MSRP at 26k. It runs perfect so I have no complaints.

I think it depends on how lucky you get, though. I seen it where people have gotten a used car, had it check out and everything, and it works fine for like 2 years. Then have it start breaking down here and there and they end up spending a lot to get it fix. Whether it's a lot at one time, which would suck. Or a lot over time making it(for a short while) cost more than a new car would. That being said, you could also be pretty lucky to have a car that still runs perfectly after many years, even though it's used.
