Penelo In a game as brown and lifeless as FF12 (so of course it has an enjoyable battle system so I can at least get through the bullshit that much quicker), Penelo's role as the "perky young girl" of the game is served well. Yes, I'm aware that Balthier/Fran, Ashe, and Basch all have more compelling stories, and Vaan/Penelo are more taggers-along, but I just enjoyed Penelo's upbeat presence. She served as a better audience window than Vaan's dumb ass did, and I also enjoyed the fact that this adorable little street urchin girl could befriend an aristocratic Larsa Solidor (who JUST missed the cut for my top 25). She fills her roll well in a game that desperately needed someone like her, so that's enough for a top twenty-five spot. --- Touch fuzzy. Get fuzzier.
