Smartphones (usually Iphones)
Nikes/Jordans and other namebrand shoes
Pets
HD Tvs, Big screen tvs
Netflix/Hulu/etc...
TIME spent on the internet, video games

Then there are the countless chances they have to save money yet choose to buy something frivolous (starbucks coffee everyday, large on every fast food meal, etc...)

This is why I am never sympathetic to those

Some of these like the phone, the shoes, and the TV are things that last a long time like over a year or so. It's fine to spend lot more money on stuff like that. Generally that's with the tax refund check and not part of the pay check.

Now yeah internet, mutiple streaming services, lots of fast food those are things you should stop or tone down if you live pay check to pay check.

A lot of this is our society actually doesn't want us to save money while looking down on people who don't. Every day, every second advertisements for food, for movies, for things we don't need and feed to us. It is hard if not impossible to avoid it. Some people have less control then others and our society is structured to manipulate those people with less self control.

You don't have to feel synthetic for them. You also don't have too look down on tbem.
