When you reduce unemployment wages fall due to a higher job pool which is filled out with lower paying jobs for entries into the pool. People's pay didn't go down. More jobs were added that were lower paying. It is like how when Amazon joins an area with like 20,000 new factory jobs. It soaks up all the unemployment with like $12 an hour jobs. Thus, all the new entries into the market are those jobs which are paid lower which lowers the average wage of workers in the area. People aren't losing money. Thus, the comment is misleading.
