If a Twitter official misrepresented them in specific tweets, that's evidence there too. You may say alternate social networks have been tried and failed due to some kind of unfair advantage, and that may or may not be the case. You do have a link there, so you did some kind of research. I'd say that making a new social network is still a viable strategy though. Networks rise and fall as the times and the political climate changes. Myspace is dead. Facebook is losing a lot of money. A LOT of money right now. Their stock plummeted. If you think the world needs it, build it and they will come to borrow a phrase. Or, if if the situation is as perverse as you think it is, maybe it's coming anyway.
