This was either commissioned by a very wealthy collector who wants them for an illegal private collection, or, they've already been melted down.

i can believe the commission hypothesis.
but the melting down idea is pretty implausible. it woul make it worth nothing more than scrap metal.

How many grams of gold do you think are in it? Altogether, there is probably enough scrap gold there to still be worth a small fortune. Although, I do favour the commission hypothesis myself.

it's not just "how many grams"
it's also about purity, i don't know if age plays a factor.

the beads, crystals and pearls can theoretically just be picked off and sold individauly for probably a pretty penny.
but without knowing the exact makeup of the gold, whether it's 100% or just an alloy on top of other metals, or if it's all mixed together, it's impossible to predict the scrap metal value, but i can guarantee that it's worth way less than the whole thing intact.
