You need two hands on the wheel at all times to be a safe driver.

When driving manual, one hand is on the stick.

Checkmate

No it shouldn't be, as resting your hand on the stick places load on the shift linkage, which often results in wear on the shift forks as they are pressed into the shift hubs inside the transmission gearbox. The plastic forks pads may wear through and this can result in harsh shifting and misalignment of the forks.

So no. Your hand shouldn't be on the stick except to shift.

Checkmate. Try again son.

Right, so when your hand is on the stick then it's not on the wheel.

You failed to refute my point and still said "checkmate try again."

Sad!

It's not like you have to shift every 5 seconds. Most of the time my hands are on the wheel.

Your hands should be on the wheel all the time.
