It feels like they skipped over a lot and we're starting in the middle of another arc. the last we saw was Eren was able to command Titans and it was alluded there was some sort of conspiracy within the government. Now the government has assassins hunting them down as if they discovered anything in the conspiracy. They were on the front lines this whole time. They didn't investigate the government at all.
