(I had already posted this in other places a couple days ago because I feel really bad for the guy and honestly feel he is the real victim in all of this)
I know full well this is not the popular opinion as far as the media and the Internet and such go, but honestly, I think the manager (especially with all the fallout) is the real victim here.
As someone who worked in retail several years ago there are some things about this incident that are not adding up. Because it's white manager and black female customer, far too many places are far too eager to pile on the cries of racism, even though there is NOTHING to suggest racism had anything to do with this (in fact the manager didn't even mention her race until the dispatcher specifically asked for it). As for the shaking, OF COURSE he wasn't shaking until she started recording and once he realized how ugly this was all going to turn out...and sure enough he has indeed been unfairly branded a rotten evil RACIST all over the 'net. Not to mention some of these same places smearing him as a racist are hypocritically mocking him shaking when that shaking was most likely from a disability of some kind. Last I checked isn't disability just as much a "protected class" as race/color? And more importantly, mocking someone's disability/medical condition is just as if not more morally wrong than racism (even though again, there is nothing to even suggest there are any racism involved).
As for the coupon itself, I'm seeing quite a few red flags on it; it's a free coupon for a pack of adult diapers, a rather expensive item (when I was in retail we had a few fake Doritos coupons among other things so YES even cheap items get fake coupons too) but even more concerning was the (fill in the blank) BRAND with "CVS" appearing like it was stamped on. As for the claims that he "should've known/recognized CVS coupons"...yes he would've if they were real coupons but if indeed he never seen this coupon before and it had these signs of being a fake then he was right to be concerned.
And it just so happened that of all the CVS employees she could've used this coupon on, it just so happened the employee was a Trump supporter looking to run for local public office??? This is only a gut feeling but honestly, I think he was deliberately targeted knowing full well it would only feed into the branding him a racist.
And lastly, again regarding the hand/arm shaking, the letter that has also been circulating that the manager wrote to (Jeff Sessions I think?) mentioned him being "in an ADA family"...so it's quite likely his shaking was from some kind of physical/mental disability...which sadly this incident will no doubt leave him a very broken man.
Bottom line, this man does not deserve all this vilification and fake racism smearing when he was only trying to do his job as best he knew how. Do these people who are increasingly using fake racism/discrimination as a WEAPON realize or even care that they are ruining innocent lives...not to mention making it that much harder for genuine victims of racism/discrimination.
And for all of those who are so eager and getting such a big kick out of ruining this man's life, may I offer the following cautionary tale. Anyone can just as easily end up like this man...even and perhaps ESPECIALLY if you didn't even do anything wrong:
But he voted for Trump. No one that isn't a racist piece of shit did that. Trump is a racist traitor and so is everyone that voted for him. Fuck this guy and his ADA family whatever the fuck that's supposed to mean. He has a tremor or some shit so he gets a pass? Nah son. ---
