Well a huge part of Munich was the fact that Hitler was given permission to annex new land. If this were really a Munich moment, we'd be telling Putin it would be okay for him to formally annex those separatist regions in East Ukraine for example.

And my point wasn't to say that this is exactly like the Munich moment. It's just to say that Trump seems to be buying Putin's lies. The analogy is that Chamberlain bought Hitler's lies. An analogy doesn't have to be two instances that match in every single aspect. But you know, the best part of jokes is when you have to explain them.
And hey, Trump shitting on NATO and saying that Russia should be part of G8 is indicative of him willing to forget the annexation of Crimea, so maybe the analogy is more apt than I intended?
