I mean unfortunately, that's probably the best way to fight social anxiety. I forced myself to talk during college (especially during group projects) and I only got better the more I talked. For context, I'm a 5'6 nerdy asian so yeah talking to girls was a challenge for me. The best way to talk to a girl you find pretty or attractive is to first show confidence with a small talk like you would do with any of your guy friends, then ask open ended questions to keep the conversation alive.

I mean I had to force myself to be sociable, especially since I was going into the Business world and in the Business world (unless you're IT) it is a must that you know how to talk and keep a conversation alive or you won't be able to network properly. At my work place, one of the key factors when it came to recruitment during the interview and networking process was to weed out the introverts and get the extroverts to apply (we're predominately an audit and consulting firm, introverts are preferable if you're going into Tax I believe) so yeah that was one of the defining factors how I got hired even though I had a 3.2 GPA (when my work place had a 3.5 minimum). It takes practice and in many cases having to put yourself in a uncomfortable position and sticking with it in order to improve.
