Cancer is a direct result of the advancement in medicine. The longer you live the more chances for your cells to split incorrectly and for that cell to split again and again....back in the day when the life expectancy was 40 or so cancer didnt exist or was exceedingly rare because we never lived long enough for it to manifest

While it is true that cancer is more common now, back in the day it wasnt uncommon for people to live to be 70, a big part of the lowered average is that children were much more likely to die than today.

Once you became an adult, you had a decent chance to make it to a ripe old age.
