I think XIII is bang on. The challenge will come later when he can say "oh I would have done it differently". If he's smart at least. Anybody who takes over now will run into the exact same problems because unicorns don't exist and a "good" brexit deal is a unicorn. Additionally May will likely win any challenge because everybody else in the running is even more hated (except MAYBE Sajid Javid, but he would be the continuity choice anyway).

Although if there are mass (and by mass I mean like... 5) MP resignations that could trigger an election I think, but that's unlikely.
