Better to blindly follow, no matter what. Party before integrity, that's the main thing. It's less about democrats making criticisms or party integrity. The "left eating the left" meme stems from people who enjoy watching highly judgmental people come under the same unreasonable scrutiny as they hold against others, and watching them get crushed using the tools of their creation.
