It does not protect you from consequences on private institutions, platforms, or even someone else straight up knocking you out. It actually does legally protect you from getting assaulted. The person assaulting you will be charged. The police can't magically intervene before it happens, but you are protected by the law. No, assault laws do that. The 1st Amendment does not protect you from the response of non-government entities.
