But again, taking into account how many people do and make it home safe, very rarely by comparison. And 99.99% of the time when you drive you could go without a seatbelt and not suffer any harm. That still doesn't mean not wearing a seatbelt is a good idea (as evinced by the thousands of people who die each year in survivable crashes because they weren't buckled in). Seriously, this isn't hard. Don't drink and drive. Call a cab, call an uber, call a friend, have a designated driver, arrange to stay over, whatever. If you don't have a way to get home with a sober driver, then don't drink to excess. There are zero situations I can think of where you are required to get drunk and are then forced to drive somewhere.
