If you've ever needed to wear one, you might as well have bought one tbh. A basic tux rental is three digits, while you can get a basic blazer, tie, shirt and matching pants for like $150 combined. If you've needed to wear one twice, you're better off buying.

Doctors don't need suits.

Pretty sure they will have worn suits for the interviews to become a doctor, or going to see the bank manager to get their first mortgage, or going to a wedding/funeral...

In the South people don't wear suits to weddings

I have legit seen grown ass adults at weddings wearing flip flops, shorts, and t-shirts. I wore a blazer and chinos and people said I was too dressed up.

It is fucking insane.

At mine, I saw everything from a full suit (the older men) to a tuxedo T-shirt (you just kinda have to know the guy) to a hideous monster with tentacles growing out of her face made up like a clown in a slutty variation of grandma attire (my mother in law is not entirely stable).

But mode attire was probably business casual--khakis with polo, khakis with button shirt.
