It bothers me because I hate sexism, I want equality, but I also hate dishonesty, manipulation and absolutely tribalism.

Well you can't force equality on people (certainly not from here).

This is the result of being part of an historically oppressed group. When some get power, they will abuse it. And women tend to be more cerebral in their interactions than men, so you'll see deception and manipulation and raising the flag of oppression. More insidious than the more stereotypical male direct abuse. It's going to happen.

So call it out when it happens, but don't lose sight of why you're doing what you're doing. You're not doing it to "be right". You're doing it to make the world a better place, as little at a time as you can. Don't assume you're going to fix the world overnight.

And for those who stick their head in the sand and support the opposing side no matter what: you're not going to win all, or even any, of them over on your own. You have to pick your battles. Simply trying to put out fires whenever you see them and getting frustrated when you don't succeed is more damaging to you than to any of their arguments.

I mean, look at some of the things you're saying here. Saying that people here would be happy if you died? You know that isn't true, you won't convince anyone to follow your argument if you say this, and it's a pretty emotionally damaging thing to say.

Sometimes you have to take a deep breath, step away from the keyboard, and recharge doing something you love, or being with someone you love. Don't worry, the debate will still be here when you get back.
