My wife (veterinary technician, 14 years) suggests to return to the original veterinarian to run more tests, or find another veterinarian for a second opinion. She says that this sounds like a "foreign body", and not everything can be seen by x-ray. At this point, your cat is likely in kidney failure due to not eating. Blood work should confirm this, the next step is probably either ultrasound (which may still show nothing) a second x-ray (which may show a "gas pattern", indicating a blockage) or an exploratory surgery. I've been syringe feeding him a slurry of a/d and water every few hours to ensure he at least has some calories going through his body. He's still drinking and urinating and he is thankfully not dehydrated again. He originally got blood work and 2 x-rays done which showed no hard foreign body and no signs of toxicity from something ingested. The vet did say he was extremely bloated The vet said it was likely either a soft object causing a blockage or possibly issues from him eating a fuckton of bread on Thursday. There was no signs of him being backed up. Can't be sure without further testing which was not possible at that time. He has been on appetite stimulants, anti nausea, metronidazole, and had saline, in the hopes that if he was just feeling unwell after puke fest he may start eating again. He's going back to the vet today he has a 3:15 appointment booked and we'll go from there. He is right now cuddled at my feet purring --- Never write off the Doctor! ... Copied to Clipboard! |
