I've never had a cat, but here's some pics of a buddy's cat.

It was a her, she was a very sweet cat. When she saw him coming home from work she'd run to the window and watch him walk up the stairs, then be waiting for him at the front door.

Funny thing: she was a feral kitten (that he thought might actually have been the descendant of a cat he had in college who got out one day and never came back; they had almost the exact same markings), and it took her a few days to get used to being an indoor cat, but then she never went outside willingly again. Probably because she'd been born and grown up in the middle of a North Carolina summer full of thunderstorms, that would freak me out too.

Like, if you opened the front door or the patio door, she'd literally walk up to the jamb, stick her nose just outside and take a sniff, as if to confirm that it still smelled like she remembered, then she'd go back and play with one of her toys. ^_^
