Firstly they were apparently just an undergrad researcher with not much in the way of legal protection, which seems kind of off, considering just how much illegal territory they were trying to insert themselves into - it seems pretty foolhardy for a responsible professor to sign off on this in an official manner. Secondly, their big attempt at getting in with members of one of these secretive message boards...literally had her announcing herself as a fucking student researcher in the first line.
