Odyssey is also a must-have. A lot of that hype gets dismissed as people just being excited over it being the only good game on the system, but it is genuinely one of the absolute best games I have ever played. I can't remember the last time a game gave me such a consistent sense of joy and fun from start to finish. If you've ever enjoyed a platformer, definitely give it some serious consideration.

I'm just not a huge fan of platforming (and I prefer 2D platforming anyway) nor open world games...Xenoblade does it so well that I love those games in spite of it, and XC1 was still very linear in reality (just w/ lots of stuff to the side) which is probably why I liked it so much.
I'm sure if you like platformer type games and open world, Odyssey is amazing. But I don't think it'd be for me.

Once Octopath Traveler and Bayonetta 3 are out, it'll make more sense to get one.

Realistically, there isn't much reason to wait that long. Xenoblade's out now, Octopath's out in a week, and I have no reason to expect Bayonetta 3 to be canceled, so it's not like you stand to lose much by grabbing it now. At best, Bayonetta's a couple years out and the price will have dropped by then, but even then I don't imagine you'd save more than $50 or so. At least, that was my rationale for picking mine up on launch day, even though my library consisted exclusively of Zelda and Snipperclips for several months and I didn't touch the system again until Mario came out.

Well, there's also the issue that I just got PS4 the end of last year and quickly built up a ~15 game backlog that I'm only halfway through (some for other systems, most for PS4) now.
I'm thinking of getting Switch around Black Friday if there's a good sale, and hopefully by then will be mostly through w/ my backlog.
