Do leftists understand that it's better to be diplomatic and tactful than to go to war with Russia?
why does Russia get diplomacy and tact and allies like Canada and the EU get mocked and disrespected?
@s0nicfan
For the same reason you may sarcastically make fun of a friend but not a stranger you just met. Trump thinks he can get more out of the EU, and his hard stance may piss them off but they're not going to actually stop being our allies. It's a crass, short-to-medium-term tactic, but it seems to be working. Germany increased their NATO contributions, for example. That same attitude doesn't work with someone willing to actually become an enemy, so you have to be more tactful.

I didn't say it was nice. I just said it was effective. And objectively it has been. Tariffs aside (which are dumb), what have any of our allies actually done in response to Trump's bluster that has negatively affected us on the global stage? Point to a single concrete measure.
We could not interact with these countries at all and then we definitely would not have to worry about saying the wrong thing to them. Better than sucking the dick of every shitty country out of fear and then claiming it is a show of strength.
Diplomacy is generally preferable to isolation and escalation of tensions. I thought that was the message the left has generally pursued with regard to foreign policy. ---
