People need to be willing to go outside their comfort zone more in media. Most people's only exposure to what new movies are coming out are the trailers they see while watching another big name mainstream movie, so of course the trailers they see for the most part are going to be more big name mainstream movies, usually by the same company. Also, people writing off entire genres is a problem too. "Oh, I don't like horror movies, they're all the same", "Nah, that's a chick flick", "I don't really like super serious dramas". There's such diversity of film in those genres with some amazing gems that you could find with just 10 minutes of googling, but people just wont do. It's so easy to find innovative and different films thanks to the internet, both old ones and ones releasing, but people wont take the couple of minutes it takes to even look up upcoming releases for the year and read a couple film descriptions to see if a movie they've never heard the name of might be worth a watch. --- "She was like, 'Oh, did you see that firefighter? Hes so cute.' And I was like, Mom, I just got blown up." ... Copied to Clipboard! |
