Its basically serving as a witness to a crime and not reporting it. Pretty common sense

Like I said, I dont ever remember that being a chargeable offense unless they were somehow an accessory to the crime. Which, I guess you could argue Dustin was since he destroyed evidence by deleting the pictures. But I like to ask myself, what would a normal person do in that situation? And I think a normal person would have deleted that shit and ran for the hills.

(Although I still want to stress that I think Dustins story is BS and hes only telling us about 10% of what actually went down.)

Ueah not reporting a crime makes you an accessory to crime. And no, a normal person would report it. You dont just see fucked up shit like that and delete it or run and think that reaction is normal. .

You understand that GameFAQs literal policy is to delete that shit and pretend it didnt happen. Years ago, apparently people in a GameFAQs chat got flooded with CP images. To my knowledge the regular users there did not report it to any authorities. The mods banned the user and deleted the images. Now youre saying that all the people in chat were guilty of a crime and deserved to be on a sex offenders list.

A rule of thumb is you should try to cover your ass. A normal person would report it so that they can say I reported it. I knew these images or whatever crime took place was wrong and I told a higher power such as reporting it to the mods of a specific site such as Gamefaqs or a porn tube site. Or to the cops.

If what Dawkins says is true that he found it while fixing someone elses computer all he had to do was report and he would have been given immunity from any charge. He didn't and so that why he is a sex offender. Here is something I found while doing research on the North Carolina reporting stuff...

Now that mistake of age thing is interesting. If you watch a video and didn't know it was CP you can't use that as a defense. So those people checking out Angie Verona nudes can get in trouble if she was 17 and they didn't know it.
