i grew up less than 5 miles from an indian res. As a kid basically all the money I saved from Jan. 1 to July 4 I would use to buy fireworks on July 5. I always preferred 3 or 5" artillery shells. the 5" box of 24 would run for like $20 on July 5 compared to $60 on July 4th or before. Also a big fan of M80s and tennis ball bombs. M80s could be had for $.50 a piece when I was younger, got up to $1 each by the time I was in high school. They didn't get marked down on the 5th because they weren't sold out of the firework stands, you had to find the shady looking guy standing around. Tennis ball bombs ran I think $3 or $5.

The most awesome though that I only found once was this starter pistol type gun that used the equivalent of an M40 that you would muzzle load and it would shoot about 40 or 50' in the air and explode. My dad took it though because I bought it when I was like 10 and he didn't trust me. Could never find more ammo after the first bath though.
