He's actually correct about what he said in this video. Police are legally required to show a copy of a search warrant before conducting a search of a home.


Not necessarily. If nobody is home for instance, they can get the landlord or just break in. If the officer believes the person could try and escape or destroy evidence, they don't have to announce they're there, even. Same thing with if they believe somebody is being harmed inside. Look up no-knock warrants.

As long as they show it to you before returning the warrant to the judge that issued it (or a sufficient ranking officer of the court depending on the time of day and availability), it's pretty much just TV and a myth that they have to give you it beforehand.
