The topic is gone, but I have an update on my former coworker. The one who got crushed by a press fly wheel.

I visited him yesterday after work. His wife is really being great. She's taking great care of him and being a good advocate for him with the staff at the rehabilitation hospital that he's at. I knew he was an optimistic guy and that they heal faster, but he's looking really quite good all things considered.

The shop's cameras took video of when it happened. From watching the video of him getting crushed, I couldn't believe he's alive. It looked really horrible. From talking, I understand why he lived. Turns out his leg was snapped by it slamming into him, his hip snapped as it came down on him, his nose broke from smashing the ground, but the fly wheel only actually pinned his arm, not the rest of him. The center of the fly wheel also was taller, so not all of the ~3900 lbs was on his arm (I estimated 5000 lbs in the last topic, but they weighed it).

He's not just alive, but he's making jokes and is recovering well. It'll be months before he can really do much, but he should recover almost fully.
