It's not semantics. Abortion is ok because the mass of flesh is not yet fully formed and no one benefits from forcing a child into an unprepared household or into an orphanage. You don't choose to be born. You're given permission. Also, getting humans to stop having sex outside of procreation would be about as successful as asking humans to grow a 2nd nose.

What qualifies one person to decide if another person should be allowed to live? How many people have led successful and happy lives after a rough childhood?

Whether or not the mother wants to give it life, silly. If a parent wants to raise you in a rough place, good on them if they can make it work. But forcing more children to be born into poverty or abuse against the will of their mothers. You don't choose to be born and it shouldn't be the government's choice either. Fetuses are not the same as people.
