Final Fantasy XII has a world full of history and lore, and combined with Balthier, Ashe, Fran and Basch, I think you have characters that have been well-defined as personalities but given a lot of latitude with potential plot direction that you could have some real fun. The political and military aspects of FF12 certainly are open to a lot of exploration as well.
