Please do not listen to Tropicalwood, Hi-Points are not nearly as reliable as a Glock 19, they are not popular because they are prone to failing, jamming, or having some BS issue, that is not the kind of gun a rookie needs and a Glock 19 is a proven and tested weapon that rarely has jamming or stove pipe issues.

I am no huge fan of Glock but for a new shooter there is no reason NOT to consider a weapon that is reliable, comfortable in your hand, accurate, and highly customizable and has a ton of after market accessories.

BEFORE YOU BUY take a firearms safety course and get some training from a range instructor, do not be the idiot who just buys it, and thinks "job's done I'm ready for anything".

Hi points are not unreliable. They are a good gun if that's all you can afford. But they are heavy and bulky. Glock 19 is superior.
