Clearly during the 1 way they won was him just giving up the stone without a fight. Keep in mind WHY he gave it up - he basically says "Don't kill Tony and you can have the Stone". It's kind of obvious that, in the future he saw where they won, Tony was still alive and crucial to the success. If Tony dies, they fail. Better to trade away the Stone and lose in the short-term but succeed in the end, than to defiantly resist, get killed, and doom the universe.
