The last samurai is one of my favorites TBH

The scene where he is training the japanese soldiers and orders the guy to fire at him. Gets me every time. You just know tom cruise's character just wants to die. He wants the guy to succeed so much.

Agreed, his best performance in any role IMO. Best/Worst part is he brings so much depth to what is essentially a side story. He's the main character but he's really just an observer. The ending where the translator talks about what happened to him gets me everytime too. As do so many other parts.

What Dreams May Come.

It was always nice seeing Robin Williams in a serious role.

this is a good choice and a really good movie

as for me I will add:

Artificial Intelligence
Dusk Maiden of Amnesia(while not a movie...it is a 12 episode anime that is quite emotional and sad....I've seen it like 5 times and it gets to me everytime, and got to my friend too who never cries either)
Samurai X(a 6 episode anime.....1000x better than it's main anime Ruourin Kenshin and it is sad)

I forgot about AI. That movie is gut wrenching too.
