Tales of Vesperia, Tales of Berseria, Tales of Symphonia, and Tales of the Abyss (in no particular order) are generally considered to be the best games in the series. Tales of Zestria is commonly cited as being one of the worst games in the series. The actual ranking of each game isn't super important; focus on their strengths.

* A lot of people hate the main character of Abyss but most adore the main character of Vesperia.
* Vesperia is considered to have the most bland combat in the series. It's definitely good, but some feel it's dated.
* Berseria and Vesperia have, perhaps, the least flawed and best developed characters in the series.
* Vesperia and Symphonia have world map navigation; I don't know about Abyss but Berseria lacks this feature.
* Symphonia has a fairly mediocre port (PC).
