That said, they should just have the damn title fight. Both guys are going to weigh well over 200 pounds by tomorrow anyway, so who cares?

Have you seen that stat for UFC fighters who miss weight and still fight? For recent fights, the win rate is something unbalanced like 6 out of 7 in favor of those who missed weight. For one thing, theyre literally not as physically or mentally drained as their opponent. Entering heavier would be an advantage in a sport that has distinct weight classes, but Romero missed weight by a small amount so hopefully it wont be too much of a factor. At any rate, I dont think Romero will be allowed to take the belt, even if he does win.

I don't think it's statistically more likely for fighters who miss weight being more likely to win. As odd as it's been this year, it's just an anomaly. There are plenty of fights from 2016-2017 where fighters missed weight and got knocked out.

There's always going to be a distinct advantage between the fighter who barely cuts any weight versus the fighter who nearly enters kidney failure because he's trying to cut forty pounds before fight night, regardless of whether weight is missed or not.
