I'm a metal newbie so will probably get grilled for this but no, Death? No Dimmu Borgir?

This discussion is about thrash groups, neither of those are thrash (although Death rules)

Ah got ya. Dammit, so many forms of metal and more I have to dive into. My favorite genres right away were Symphonic and Death with Viking being the epitome since it would have those sounds as well as use Black Metal incredibly well. A big deal for me because sadly, 99% of all Black metal I have come across by itself is pure trash. Doom Metal was interesting due to being essentially opposite of what most Metal is but only something I could listen to every now and then.

Power Metal can be good and a nice change of flow. I haven't bothered with Glam Metal yet and almost everyone says not to haha. I also haven't formally gotten into Thrash Metal but will use this group as a reference on who to check out besides the big 4 (that I do recognize by name since everybody always talks of them and wears stuff with their name on it).

I have heard there is Speed Metal but no clue where to begin with that. Then there's MetalCore which I find is extremely hit and miss but even when good tens to overdo it on the vocal sections. Then again, given it's a hybrid genre with Punk makes sense.

I'm on the Nu metal isn't Metal train although there's still some stuff here and there from the era I enjoy today.
