What people don't seem to understand is that these bakeries aren't refusing to serve gay people. They are refusing to take part in something they consider immoral - the celebration of homosexuality. If a gay couple asked them to bake a birthday cake, I'm sure they would be fine with that, because they would be taking part in the celebration of a birth, not homosexuality. If a straight friend of the gay couple was buying the gay couple their wedding cake for them, the baker wouldn't serve the straight person either because, again, it's not about who they are serving, but rather what they themselves are participating in by providing that specific service.

They're refusing to serve them the same way they would a straight couple. What if a gay baker didn't want to bake a cake to be served at a church that condemns homosexuals? Could they refuse to do it? They'd be taking part in something they don't agree with as well.
