They work better for this game when you take the few minutes to get used to them and it kinda ruins the game when you use the new controls. I hate how poorly animated the characters look with the new controls. The game simply wasn't designed for them in mind. And I will say playing Gamecube version on an old CRT is still the definitive way to play it. Some backgrounds look really horrible on the HD Remaster. --- "When it's cold, and when it's dark....
