DiBiase doesn't need a Wrestlemania paycheck, and attempts to smooth over this little misunderstanding with his good friend George. His good friend Abe? Franklin? The Funks knock the cash out of his hand in an explosion of green, and begin a beatdown. (61) A very solid brawl follows. Despite DiBiase's reluctance to take the match, the heels give a solid account of themselves once we're underway. Nevertheless, the Funks are a bit scrappier tonight. (87) Backstage, we get Luis Edwards' hot take FROM THE FUTURE on tonight. The timeline is a bit muddled, but he's pretty sure Hogan's gonna slam a Giant tonight, and you should watch out for Ricky Steamboat. (31) Sheik and Koloff are excited to be your next tag team champions, you stupid Americans. (54) But in fact the FACES OF FEAR are able to beat them down after a worthy fracas. (69) Bruno mumbles something about a surprise and being ready for Ventura. (58) But first, the IC Title Battle Royal! Final four is Rheingans, Steamboat, Michaels, and Bundy. Bundy tosses Steamboat and Rheingans tosses Michaels. Bundy is able to muscle Rheingans over the top...but Steamboat skinned the cat! Steamboat is a house on fire, and eventually knocks Bundy out with a superkick to win the IC title! (67) He celebrates in the ring and tells all the kids out there to train hard. (80) Muraco and Blackwell are out for RIGHTEOUS VENGEANCE, and get it at the expense of Snuka and an oddly uninvolved (read: hiding an injury) Jones. (64) Parkamania and Baba/Tsuruta talk about (north) AMERICA. (57) Faces go over after Hogan successfully bodyslams Baba the Giant! (68) Ventura is here to tell us that Lawler has a THING tonight and can't be here. He's sick. yes. But no worries, the role of Jerry Lawler will be played tonight by Genichiro Tenryu! (73) The gauntlet commences. Tenryu gives Bruno a bit of trouble, but Style and Substance go down in rather quick succession. (65) Tully abandons any pretense of a match and just beats the snot out of Bruno until staff pull him off. That's a DQ, but Bruno is in very bad shape after going through three matches and a beatdown.
