Oafish husband gets wife card for birthday (annoyed Marge grunt), a card for Valentine's (louder annoyed Marge grunt), forgotten anniversary after a sit down (packing up suit case to stay with her sisters with crying). You have two paths to choose from in sitcom land. One is some sort of just desserts birthday present. Like if he would never abandon a dog but doesn't want a dog, then you get him a dog. Something that will be a constant reminder. Result of this is you "win" and the episode ends with a laugh track because the audience knows you will win some and lose some in the eternal struggle of man and wife. Other path is taking the high road, getting him something nice, etc. You can rest assured if you take this route sometime either when you are shopping or more likely yet, doing whatever you are doing, some guy who had a semi-interesting intersecting sub-plot you were not aware of WILL aggressively hit on you in front of your husband.
