You might see it as humble everyman idiot, others see it as "the chosen one". So you can understand why a lot of fans were disappointed they didn't get Super Saiyan Luke. I can understand this. But Super Saiyan Luke was shown in Clone Wars and Rebels (haven't seen either tbh so I'm not 100% on this) so it's not like the imagery is lost. I don't really see Luke as ever being the chosen one.
