Does my current life of full gainful employment fall under "other," or is this topic solely dedicated to academic options, i.e. grad school or med school or w/e

If the former, then definitely other. Being employed and living alone is one of the greatest things I've accomplished.

If the latter, I'm torn. I had better friends in high school but the work was harder, whereas my college friends were a bunch of alcoholic shitheads with whom I lost touch as soon as I moved out, but the work was actually a lot easier (private college prep high school FML but hey i guess it paid off)

I'd probably vote college because the work was a lot easier and my lack of a social life was offset by the relative ease of the schoolwork.
