A good or even decent looking guy with confidence is attractive, sure. If you're ugly or otherwise undesirable (awkward, tense/unnatural body language, etc) being confident is only going to get you labelled as creepy. And boy, do women ever love to throw that label around. Unless you're "dating down," looks are absolutely necessary to get your foot in the door. I don't know how anyone could honestly say otherwise.

It's more complicated than that, but it's like expecting to get hired for a job when you have no obvious job experience in that field or no references. Why would you give someone with zero credentials a chance to prove their worth? (attractiveness) Especially when there's plenty of other, more qualified applicants.
