That's a lie you're telling yourself because you are in your 30s now. I see older relatives do it all the time. The older they get, the higher the threshold for old becomes. I doubt your 18 year old self (who is now separated from you by 14 years of time) would agree that you aren't past your prime until 40. And lest you think I'm being mean, I'm not much younger than you. Getting old always feels like it's a problem for someone else.
