It is possible that you are a rare savant and you're 100% aware of what you signed up to and exactly who to, but for most people who just put their email down on a subscriber list to get a free coffee or newsletter or whatever didn't realise that their entire facebook profile, friend circle, interests, locations and dating life was being shared among hundreds of loosely tied together companies that collect databases of human information for a living. And if they cared, they wouldn't have a facebook account where they allow anyone to see their friend circle, interests, locations, and dating life. pinky0926 posted... Google having a complete profile on your entire life right down to the personal contents of the emails you send and selling that information for profit is a more accurate summary of why this stuff is important. They only have that information if you allow them to. If I didn't want my friends known, I wouldn't have facebook. If I didn't want my location known, I wouldn't have an Android phone with the GPS turned on. Those are things I don't particularly care if companies have. Actual personal things, I don't post on the internet. Google doesn't know the size of my massive penis because I never posted the size of my massive penis on the internet. These companies only have information that you allow them to have. No more, no less. This law does nothing besides annoys you with email spam ... Copied to Clipboard! |
