Should adults who are able to eat a normal diet and maintain a decent weight be forced to pay for those who can't control themselves?
Or should we have a mandatory tax that obese people have to pay to cover their overbearing costs on the medical system, transportation system, etc? Seeing as being overweight is a choice and anyone can make a change.
This alone invalidates your whole topic.
It doesn't invalidate it. The majority of obese people are obese due to choices. The ones that aren't could request a waiver, etc. from a doctor
Someone can choose to eat right but they won't lose 200 pounds in a few weeks. It's not like a switch you can turn on and off. It takes years of bad decisions to become obese, it takes a long time of good decisions to undo that.
That's not an excuse to be fat
No but it's an excuse to not tax it.
Like if I go to the store, I can choose, immediately, to not buy any soda. Thus taxing soda is okay, taxing literally being fat is not. ---
